Calling all artists for this amazing opportunity to access the beautiful equines and landscape of Rosemary Farm Sanctuary for your artistic endeavors! Come for the weekend or just a session - The horses, mules, and donkey are ready to be your muses!
Saturday daytime 9 am- 2 pm: The first painting session! There will be several designated painting locations with set ups just for you, including; a buckboard and a Doctor’s Buggy set up for study, and horses in harness to add to your completed work (please note, these will be retired horses and will not be actually pulling anything, nor will there be any buggy or carriage rides! This is for gentle study). There will also be mules in an area for longear fans, and access to viewing some of our wild mustangs. Station specifics may change depending upon weather and availability of horses!
Farm closed for all painters and guests from 2 pm - 5 pm (chores and rest!). Exception; Those staying at our AirBnB will have continued access to some horses from their backyard.
Other Notes:
- While not a ‘classroom setting’, there will be some tutor and peer support available. Beginners welcome, with their own supplies. A select number of easels may be available for loan onsite, please ask in advance.
- Tea, water and coffee provided. Bathroom onsite.
- Please do not bring pets.
- Cameras encouraged, to document settings for further studio work at home.
- This event is not ideal for children, but 12 yo and older are welcome if accompanied by an adult, and both are ticketed.
Access requirements
The event is based outside with live models. There are alternate indoor spots and covered porches for inclement weather. Rain or shine, no refunds unless there is extreme weather and roads are closed (don’t laugh it happened once already this year!). This is a working farm; there are uneven surfaces, poo, hay, and people continuing daily chores. Care must be taken working around live animals. Please bring all supplies needed for your work, comfort, and enjoyment. We strongly recommend suitable clothing and footwear for the weather (both heat and rain).
List of supplies one may bring or need for this event:
Portable easel, portable chair or stool, sun or rain umbrella, paints, charcoals, pencils or other preferred medium. Bottled water, paper towels. Clothing in layers (the mountains are very cool in the morning but will warm up!)
Trash cans provided, please leave the area clean!
