Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit equine rescue in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. Home to nearly 100 equines our mission is to rescue horses in dire need, and protect them for life. Many are saved from slaughter, neglect or abuse; others have simply run out of options. Most have been passed from owner to owner, never knowing a herd or consistency. When they arrive here, they are home.

Sanctuary.
Sanctuary is our most important feature and our gift to the horses here. When we welcome an equine, we commit to forever, and we do everything we are capable of to allow them happiness, based on what is best for each horse and the sanctuary family. We provide care, training, and space to recover, for however long they need. If a horse cannot recover, they live while they are comfortably able, and 'cross the rainbow bridge' with dignity and friends by their side.
Where Horses Get to Be Horses.
Our horses live in dynamic natural environments, in herd groups, creating vital bonds that are honored and protected. No expectations, no working for their living, given freedom of choice to live as they were intended to live. In this magical space, horses get to be horses.
Adoption and Education.
While adoption is not our focus, select horses may be available for adoption, to the right home, under a strict foster-to-adopt contract with a safety net return guarantee. We also offer a unique Staydoption(TM) program to allow one donor to support one special horse for life. In addition to being a horse rescue, we educate horse owners and the public about the wretched conditions many horses suffer, and how they can improve both the physical and emotional guardianship of horses.
