When you become a Staydopter you are giving a lifelong gift of love and support to one very special equine.
How does it work?
Staydoption™ is
a selfless gift of a recurring monthly donation that supports one
chosen equine, for life, at Rosemary Farm Sanctuary. This option is only
offered for equines that are best served by remaining AT the Sanctuary
for life, so is not the same as a normal 'adoption'. Staydopted equines
remain the legal property of the Sanctuary, so the entire monthly
donation is tax deductible. Staydopted equines may not be ridden, or
removed from the grounds, but visits are encouraged! There is only one
Staydopter allowed for any equine, and that equine will never be adopted
to leave the property. The current monthly Staydoption donation amount
is set at $350 per month (and once signed up, that amount is fixed and
will not increase). This covers all the basic needs for 'your' chosen
equine (additional costs come from the general donation pool). This is
an exceptional way to feel connected to, and support, one special
creature who has spoken to your heart.
Do I get to choose which horse I Staydopt?
Yes! Horses currently available for Staydoption™can be viewed on the website. If you have fallen in love with one of them, you can choose that horse. OR if you want us to recommend someone from the list who could really use the attention, message us for suggestions. You will need to indicate which horse you are Staydopting when you set up your donation. A horse may only have one Staydopter.
How is my donation used?
Your monthly Staydoption™ donation covers the horse's basic care - food, dental care, hoof care and annual checkups. Any other costs like vaccines, medications, specialized veterinary care and emergency treatment are covered by the Sanctuary.
Can I send extra gifts for my Staydopted horse?
YES! Staydopters sometimes choose to buy a dedicated blanket or send treats for their special horse. Contact us to discuss any special needs you can support if you choose to!
When do I receive my Staydoption™ packet?
We will send your Certificate of Staydoption™ along with a Photo and the Story of your horse within 10 days of signing up as a Staydopter.
When do I receive my calendar?
Calendars are mailed out at the end of November to arrive in December.
Are there any benefits for the donor?
Our
Staydopters are valued, and do receive special consideration from the
Sanctuary! Here are the benefits;
-Soon after signing up, each Staydopter receives a packet about their chosen equine, and a certificate to display, and photos! Connection is encouraged and welcome
-Staydopters are encouraged to visit, if proximity permits. A private tour for the Staydopter and a small group of friends or family is offered annually, and additional scheduled visits to groom or bond are welcome. Some Staydopters visit once or twice a year, some have never visited
-Staydopters are welcome to spend two free nights in the Guest House annually! This is a great way to get more involved, help with chores, receive a private grooming session, and really dive deep into the farm life.
-Staydopters receive an annual letter from 'their' equine as part of a year end gift package, which includes a special gift, calendar and other treats.
-Staydopters receive private updates on 'their' equine, including any medical concerns or end of life. There is no additional revenue expected but as a consideration, this information is shared privately in advance of public announcements.
-All visits are scheduled in advance and interaction with the chosen
equine will be dependent upon their ability. Every effort is made to
help our Staydopters connect and find personal value in their generous
commitment to that life. Contact us to make arrangements for visiting
the Sanctuary.
Can I "gift" a Staydoption™ to someone?
YES! This
is a unique and moving gift, allowing someone to feel connected to one
equine, without the hassle or extra costs of 'actual' ownership. If you
are signing up to 'gift' a Staydoption™, please be sure to send us an
email to help choose the horse and get a special package to the
recipient!
What if I need to cancel my Staydoption™ in the future?
Staydoption™ is intended to be for the life of the horse so we ask you to think carefully before signing up. Still, we understand circumstances can change. If you find you can no longer support your horse in the future, send us a note and we will help you cancel your support.
