When you become a Staydopter you are giving a lifelong gift of love and support to one very special equine.
How does it work?
Staydoption™ is a unique program developed at Rosemary Farm to help equines that are not adoptable in the regular way by matching them with a dedicated sponsor who wants to connect with and support one special equine. Unlike adoption, the equine remains at the Sanctuary and Rosemary Farm retains legal ownership of the horse.
Do I get to choose which horse I Staydopt?
Yes! Horses currently available for Staydoption™can be viewed on the website. If you have fallen in love with one of them, you can choose that horse. OR if you want us to recommend someone from the list who could really use the attention, message us for suggestions. You will need to indicate which horse you are Staydopting when you set up your donation. A horse may only have one Staydopter.
How is my donation used?
Your monthly Staydoption™ donation covers the horse's basic care - food, dental care, hoof care and annual checkups. Any other costs like vaccines, medications, specialized veterinary care and emergency treatment are covered by the Sanctuary.
Can I send extra gifts for my Staydopted horse?
YES! Staydopters sometimes choose to buy a dedicated blanket or send treats for their special horse. Contact us to discuss any special needs you can support if you choose to!
When do I receive my Staydoption™ packet?
We will send your Certificate of Staydoption™ along with a Photo and the Story of your horse within 10 days of signing up as a Staydopter.
When do I receive my calendar?
Calendars are mailed out at the end of November to arrive in December.
How do I arrange a visit with my Staydopted horse?
You are encouraged to come for an annual (or more frequent) visit if proximity permits. If you're traveling from afar, you are welcome to spend one (1) free night in the Guest House when you come (depending on availability). As part of your visit, you will also receive one (1) private tour a year, for up to four (4) friends and family, led by Founder Dawn Robyn. Contact us to make arrangements for visiting the Sanctuary.
What if I need to cancel my Staydoption™ in the future?
Staydoption™ is intended to be for the life of the horse so we ask you to think carefully before signing up. Still, we understand circumstances can change. If you find you can no longer support your horse in the future, send us a note and we will help you cancel your support.
